Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Prime Minister of Thailand Paetongtarn Shinawatra in Beijing on Thursday.
Xi pointed out that China and Thailand enjoy a millennia-old friendship, adding that the two countries have adhered to mutual respect, equality, mutual benefit and mutual support, and have always firmly supported each other in safeguarding national sovereignty, security and development interests.
Noting that this year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand and the "Golden Jubilee for China-Thailand Friendship," Xi called on the two sides to continue to move forward hand in hand to promote the construction of China-Thailand community with shared future, so as to bring more benefits to the two peoples, the region and the world.
Xi emphasized that in the face of unprecedented changes in the century, China and Thailand should consolidate strategic mutual trust, firmly support each other, and cope with uncertainties in the external environment with the stability and certainty of China-Thailand relations.
China is willing to work with the Thai side to strengthen the synergy of development strategies, expand mutually beneficial cooperation, implement flagship projects such as the China-Thailand Railway, and realize the development vision of China-Laos-Thailand connectivity at an early date, Xi stressed.
He urged efforts to deepen cooperation in emerging areas such as digital economy and new energy vehicles, and work together to build a more stable and smooth industrial and supply chains.
China appreciates the strong measures taken by the Thai side to crack down on online gambling and telecom fraud, and the two sides should continue to strengthen law enforcement, security and judicial cooperation, safeguard the safety of people's lives and property, and maintain the order of interaction and cooperation between countries in the region, Xi added.
